Yeah Yeah Yeahs Announce Comeback Single "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" Featuring Perfume Genius
The band's first single in nine years arrives June 1
Published May 26, 2022It's happening! Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back! The iconic NYC trio started teasing new music recently, and they've just announced their first new song in nine years — "Spitting Off the Edge of the World" features none other than Perfume Genius, and it's arriving June 1 via their new home at Secretly Canadian.
The band announced the song on Twitter today, telling fans to keep a lookout for "the HellYEAHRacer" — that's the tricked out punk-mobile featured in the photo above — on the streets of NYC.
There's no concrete information available besides that, but that's more than enough to get excited. The band haven't released any new music since 2013's Mosquito (which, again, is probably better than you remember it being.) They've been involved in projects individually in the years since — Karen O released Lux Prima with Danger Mouse and has made guest appearances on several albums and singles, while Nick Zinner joined the Rentals and Brian Chase released an album of drone music — but the gang is finally together again.
Check out the announcement below.
